A Man Called Mat..t

There's been many a time the second 't' seems to have been misplaced when I was younger, but hey, what's the use in complaining about a small matter that is just there to test my OCD?!

So, my name's Matt Wester, and this is my blog 'Ouch! My Ears!', which ironically sees me away from the microphone for some time!

I started finding myself engaging in radio (properly!) in 2011, when I was invited by a close friend to get involved in my college radio station, KCC The Bridge in Devon, England.

It was a new found ambition of mine to really engage in something I once only dreamed about doing, talking boll**ks into a microphone for half an hour in week in the hope that it would actually get me places.

Somehow (don't ask how?!), I got asked to take on a more managing role at the station which saw me working with the other presenters and organising the radio schedule - Head DJ. At this stage, the station was very much at the lower level of cool, and between the awesome new team of Sixth Form students, it was our job to bring it out to the surface and really get it going!

2 years on and I see myself finishing Sixth Form, tears here and there (and everywhere!), but I'd really learnt what it meant to have a commitment and passion for something you thrive it - it was at this stage, alongside other, more personal aspects, that brought me to The Cotswolds and studying Radio at Uni of Gloucestershire.

New people, new motives, greater expectations... but on top of everything, one of the best opportunities in life!

Completing my 1st year and looking back on being part of an awesome bunch of radio nerds, some of the craziest and most warming flock of flatmates and a beautiful location, not to mention the incredible family-like bond of Tone Radio, it's blindingly obvious how much you can achieve if you put your mind to it!

Anyway, screw all that for a moment! Let's get down to the real dirt, here you can find out my view on some of the hot topics in the radio industry, as well as some more personal highlights in life! Don't go anywhere!
